Our Edelweiß hut – South Tyrol in your hands

A sweet temptation at the Passo di Monte Giovo/Jaufenpass

The Passo di Monte Giovo/Jaufenpass is regarded as one of the most beautiful Alpine passes – and rightly so. The view is incredible. It reaches from the impressive Ötztal Alps in the north via the Sarntal Alps and the Val Passiria/Passeiertal to the Burgraviato/Burggrafenamt in the south of South Tyrol. A souvenir photo or a selfie at this box seat is an absolute must when you spend your holiday in Racines/Ratschings. The pass road is just as spectacular as the view. It is particularly sought after by motorcyclists and racing cyclists. Curve after curve, the stretch between lush green forests and Alpine meadows winds its way from Wipptal up to the pass.

Our Edelweiss hut is situated directly on the Passo di Monte Giovo/Jaufenpass at 2,094 metres and is the ideal starting point for numerous hikes and mountain tours. It is also a popular place to stop for refreshments. Not only the panorama attracts motorcyclists, racing cyclists, mountain bikers, group travellers, and hikers, but also the homemade cakes and strudel, which are freshly prepared every day in the patisserie of the Sporthotel Kalcherhof. Black forest cherry cake, cheese cake, nut cake, apple strudel ... who could possibly resist that? Besides coffee and cake, there are also small snacks for nourishment, such as goulash soup, sausages, sandwiches, or a snack with South Tyrolean speck, cheese, and “Kaminwurzen” smoked sausages.

The Edelweiß hut is open from Easter to All Saints’ Day. Visit us and let us pamper you!
